2. The Last Of Us 2 

To be honest, The Last of Us might have easily been named here, but its sequel, The Last of Us 2, improves on the original premise in every way. Expect themes of love, grief, and more breath-taking moments than a handmade Molotov cocktail can handle, just like its predecessor. 

The original game in the series was not without themes of humanity and morality, but the sequel amps them up to 11 and is all the better for it.

3. Horizon Zero Dawn

Robot Dinosaurs. Is there anything else we can say? Probably not, but we'll go ahead and do it anyhow. Take control of Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn, an open-world role-playing game in which she learns about herself and her past.

Horizon Zero Dawn rarely fails to impress, from the numerous methods to engage in battle to traveling across the world and exploring the diverse tribes that have established homes and villages in every corner.

4. Red Dead Redemption 2

Is there a more appropriate way to begin this list than with Rockstar's western epic? Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the first game that puts you in the shoes of Arthur Morgan.

It would be an understatement to suggest that Assassin's Creed has become stale in recent years. Thankfully, Ubisoft listened to our complaints for its 12th mainline adventure. 

Assassin's Creed Valhalla abandons the series' tiresome forced stealth in favor of a grin-inducing historical power fantasy, allowing players to embrace the fury of a blood-soaked Viking. 

Valhalla's head cleaving, fortress toppler is a breath of fresh air after years of climbing towers and walking incredibly slowly behind foes. Valhalla's Ye Olde England is a place to truly immerse oneself in, with the most lifelike and varied open world to date from Ubisoft, as well as surprisingly weighty combat.

8. God of War

God of War has always been a fantastic series, but God of War PS4 has elevated things to a new level. It's transformed from a linear tale to a semi-open world in which players take control of Kratos and explore worlds based on Norse mythology. Control is a preternatural pill of kaleidoscopic devastation, with its supernaturally flavoured third-person shooter combat, delectably off-kilter story, and truly jaw-dropping visuals, with each moment managing to exceed the last in its pure, surreal splendor. Without giving too much away, Alan Wake fans will not want to miss this one.

11. Football Manager 2021

Football Manager 2021 is the most advanced addition in the football/soccer management simulation series in years. What started out as Championship Manager many moons ago has gradually evolved into the stats-heavy, tactics-tinkering dream we have today, and it simply keeps getting better.

Football Manager 2021 has it all, whether you wish to play as one of the world's top teams - like, say, Celtic – and dominate Scottish football and beyond, or start from the bottom of lower league English football and work your way up.

12. Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a wonderful story. There are times when you'll wonder how a platformer managed to create such an amazing experience. You'll be weeping like a willow from the beginning when you're reintroduced to Ori, Naru, and Sein, as well as the equally cute new character, Ku.

14. Resident Evil 2 Remake 

At first, we were skeptical of Capcom's announcement of Resident Evil 2 Remake, but we couldn't have been more wrong. The studio's love remake of its 1990s survival horror classic is the perfect example of how to modernize an old game while remaining faithful to its roots.

Leon's perilous journey through the Raccoon City Police Department is one of the scariest, most difficult campaigns we've ever had the pleasure of experiencing, entirely accessible to series beginners while also brimming with easter eggs to thrill Resi fans. This is how horror is done, and it confirms that Capcom's seminal franchise still has a lot of life in it.

On May 7, 2021, Resident Evil Village was released to tremendous hype, although it didn't quite reach the same heights as the reinvention of the second main series entry, despite being fantastic in several areas.

15. The Outer Worlds

You're in for a treat with The Outer Worlds if you've never played an Obsidian game before. The studio's most recent new IP is a haphazard, zigzagging tour through the future of the final frontier, one in which corporations rule, and it's as lighthearted and joyful in tone as it is caustic in humor.
