Onimusha: Way of the Sword for PS5 is Capcom's first new mainline Onimusha game in 20 years, a dark fantasy samurai action-adventure built on the RE Engine. Step into the role of the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi and fight your way through Edo-period Kyoto, a city twisted by malevolent clouds of Malice and overrun by the demonic Genma.

Directed by Satoru Nihei, the game pairs tense, precise swordplay with a brand-new story and a brand-new hero, so you don't need to have played the PS2 originals to jump in. Battle across iconic locations like Kiyomizu-dera and Mt. Oe, where the colossal Genma Shuten Doji awaits, and prove you are unmatched in the way of the sword.

Master the Oni Gauntlet

Musashi wields the Oni Gauntlet, a sentient weapon that absorbs the souls of fallen Genma. Yellow souls restore health, red souls power up your abilities and blue souls fuel devastating Oni weapon attacks. Use Oni Vision to sense hidden threats and turn the demons' own power against them.

Parry, Break and Issen

Every duel is a test of timing. Deflect incoming blows to drain an enemy's stamina, then finish them with a Break Issen, the series' signature instant-kill strike. Sword-to-sword clashes, heavy guard-breaking Oni strikes and perfectly timed counters give combat real tactical depth, especially against rival swordsman Sasaki Ganryu.

On PS5 you can choose between a sharp quality mode and a smooth performance mode targeting 60fps, ideal for tight parry windows. The DualSense wireless controller adds vibration and adaptive trigger effects to every clash, and the game is PS5 Pro Enhanced for even better visuals on PS5 Pro. Remote Play is supported too.

A Legend Brought to Life

Musashi is modelled on the likeness of legendary Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, and Capcom worked with real swordsmen for motion capture to make every strike feel authentic. Combined with a richly detailed recreation of historic Kyoto, it's the most cinematic Onimusha yet.
