Once Upon A Katamari - Nintendo Switch

Buy Once Upon A Katamari for Nintendo Switch in Australia

Once Upon A Katamari for Nintendo Switch is the first brand-new mainline entry in the Katamari Damacy series in 14 years, and it's a joyful return to form. Published by Bandai Namco and developed by RENGAME, this puzzle action-adventure brings back the King of All Cosmos, the tiny Prince and the wonderfully weird roll-'em-up gameplay that made the original PS2 classics cult favourites. Critics have called it the best the series has been since the PlayStation 2 era, with a strong OpenCritic top critic average of 81.

This time the King has outdone himself: while fiddling with a mysterious scroll, he accidentally crushes the Earth, the Moon and a host of planets and stars. It's up to the Prince to roll his katamari across time itself, picking up everything in sight to rebuild the glittering night sky. Released on Nintendo Switch on 24 October 2025, it's the perfect companion to Katamari Damacy REROLL and We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie.

Roll Through the Ages

Once Upon A Katamari sends you hurtling through history, with stages set in the Jurassic Era, the Ice Age, historic Edo Japan, the American Wild West and more. Every era is packed with themed objects, silly little jokes and charming anachronisms just waiting to be rolled up, and each stage comes with its own objectives to clear. Start small with pencils and pebbles, and before long you'll be rolling up dinosaurs, buildings and entire landscapes.

New Power-Ups and a Fabulous Soundtrack

For the first time, the Prince can use support tools like the Magnet, which draws nearby objects straight into your katamari for an even more satisfying roll. Refined controls (including simpler one-stick controls) make it easy to pick up and play, while a brand-new original soundtrack sits alongside around 60 classic tracks from past Katamari Damacy games, so the music is every bit as catchy as fans expect.

Cousins, Customisation and KatamariBall

Play as the Prince or one of his 68 colourful cousins, then use the new customisation system to tweak colours and faces and create your own unique character. Take your creation into KatamariBall, the new multiplayer mode, to compete online against players around the world, or sharpen your skills offline against CPU opponents.
