Yurukill: The Calumniation Games Deluxe Edition is a genre-bending visual novel and shoot 'em up hybrid for Nintendo Switch, developed by IzanagiGames with shooter sequences by G.rev, and published by NIS America. It follows death-row prisoner Sengoku Shunju as he's forced to compete in a twisted amusement park called Yurukill Land, escaping death row puzzles and bullet-hell battles at once in a story built entirely around guilt, revenge and redemption.

Six convicts, each claiming innocence, are paired with an "executioner": a civilian survivor of the very crime the prisoner was convicted of. Together each pair must solve escape-room style puzzles hidden inside the park's twisted attractions, while the executioner holds the power to pardon or condemn their partner at any moment, all building toward a conspiracy that ties every case together.

Escape Rooms Meet Bullet-Hell Shooting

Yurukill alternates between two very different halves of gameplay. In the visual novel Escape sections, you'll explore environments, examine evidence and solve puzzles to survive each attraction. In the Yurukill Shooting sections, you'll pilot vertically-scrolling aerial craft through fast, arcade-style bullet-hell combat across 21 stages, with online ranking support to compare your best runs.

A Cast Built on Guilt and Doubt

At the centre of the story is the uneasy partnership between Sengoku and Rina Azami, the executioner convinced he murdered her family in an arson attack. As the five pairs of prisoners and executioners are drawn deeper into Yurukill Land's games, the line between guilt and innocence blurs, and a hidden mastermind's plot slowly comes into focus.
